Why the ISP numericable sucks, and why you should never choose them
- The hardware they give sucks. The router/modem is a special netgear, made for numericable. The thing is that the morons are so stupid
(both numericable and netgear) they make hardware that can't handle more that 400 connections at a time, overheats, and these are just the beginning:
- The phone only works 1 out of three times
- port redirection is impossible, the modem tells you "The port is in use, try an other port" whenever you try to forward a port
- the connection is lost, 100% packet loss happens for one minute every 10 minutes. This may be because of the modem, or because of the network
So they promise 100Mbits, but really, what do you get:
- Crappy customer support, where the support personnel will rather give you crap and make fun of you than actually forwarding the problem (I know, i've been calling them at least twice a month for the past 12 months)
- Crappy hardware (the modem they give you is a custom-build crappy netgear -- so what telecom company ca survive that doesn't even know what is good hardware?! - they don't, they are slowly going bankrupt, hopefully and probably)
- The problem is that they are probably as amateur with the important hardware as with the customer hardware
- Which is why their routing goes haywire all the time
- They alsom make you sign a 12 month contract, so basically what they are saying is: We want you for 12 months, then we want you to leave us - not a very smart way of running a business
so i end my diatribe with
